I need some assistance from my stylish and savvy readers. Which color do you like the best?
From left to right-
Pottery Barn Benjamin Moore colors:
1. Rosy Apple (Big Kid’s fave)
2. Coral Reef (Little Kid’s fave)
3. Classic Brown
4. Robin’s Nest
5 Sycamore Tree
6. Florida Keys Blue ( Yoga Gal’s fave)
Why do I ask what color you like? Well, this weekend, The Engineer and I decided to get rid of our formal dining room. Again. We are just not formal dining room people. And I am not dissing formal dining rooms, I love them. I love eating in other people’s formal dining rooms. But we live such a casual existence, that it feels strange to eat grilled burgers in here:
Blandy McBlanderson. This room is in definite need of a color splash. The chandelier is also leaving. I made a deal with my mom that if my stepdad came and installed the new light fixture, she could have the chandelier for her bathroom. I like this chandelier but it is 6 inches too small. I recently read that to determine what size light fixture you need for a room, you are supposed to measure the dimensions of your room, add them together, and that is your diameter. For instance, this room is 12 x 13, which means the light needs to be 25 inches in diameter. The light above is 19. I wish I had known about this design tip when we were doing the lighting for our home!
We use every other room of our house except this one. The formal dining room just sits here and it is a shame, because it has gorgeous trim, wainscoting, and crown molding. It is the prettiest room in our house, and it is going to be mine! Yes! We are turning it into my… office? Refuge? Craft room? I don’t know what to call it, but I am totally stoked. The china cabinet is going into our foyer-which will be nice because it will be easier to open than it is here by the table. And I am going to turn the table into a desk.
This is not our first time at this rodeo, we turned our formal dining room in our last home into The Engineer’s study.

Yes, that is the same table! It is adjustable and has a beautiful double pedestal base. The table works very well as a desk. This new home office is going to look TOTALLY different, though. No pictures of Peyton Manning on the wall for Yoga Gal’s office. Though he is awful cute……..
Please leave my a comment with your favorite color! I hope to journal the transformation in the next couple of months, and I know that I will be asking for imput each step of the way. Tonight I started moving furniture. More to come……..
