The kids are back at school, the spouse has returned to work, and the dog is passed out downstairs. For the first time in almost three weeks, my house is quiet and I am alone.
Ahhhh.
Perfect time to blog, right?
I got nothin’.
Usually on Wednesdays, I do What We Wore Wednesday, but trust me when I say the last few weeks have been nonstop. I have no pictures to share. Hopefully, I will get back in the groove with that next week.
We started January going wide open, as my dad would say. Little Kid’s 4th birthday party is next week and we have started planning for her bash.
Sneak Peak:
A lovely lady in the Netherlands designed Little Kid’s party theme. Nancy has been fantastic to work with; check out her Etsy shop.
We are also in the middle of the great January Purge. For the next week, I will go through every room of the house and pull out old clothes/toys/house items and either chuck them or box them up. A veterans charity will pick them up next Tuesday, which is great because a deadline will force me to get my butt in gear and get it out. And all my closets will then be organized, which is WIN.
After that, it will be time for the Deep Clean. I HATE the Deep Clean, but it has to be done. Dusting behind the bed, touch up painting, repairing the crack in our front door (seriously, our solid wood door cracked!) and all of those super sexy aspects of home ownership. I feel very lucky to live in our house and try to show my appreciation by taking good care of it.
In the next week when I am overcome by dust bunnies and clutter and McDonalds Happy Meal toys, I will daydream about my new Mac Book Pro:
It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine. I have not pulled the trigger yet because I am waffling on size. If any of you out there are Mac Book users, I would love to hear your thoughts.
As for writing, I am trying to have my home back in order before I take on any more freelancing assignments, but I did write my Column for Rocket City Mom this week. It was about New Year’s resolutions, or more accurately, un-resolutions. Funresolutions? Also, RCM named my Pinterest article one of the Best of 2011, which was seriously cool.
So that is what is happening around here. I am working with Danielle on the new blog design and that should be up very soon. Let me pick your brain. What do you like to see on your favorite blogs? What are your least favorite blog features?
Happy Wednesday!

I love your idea of doing the purge and then the clean. that sounds right up my alley! sick, I know. Congrats on the article!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the party details. looks very cute.
First off ... super cute kid's party theme! That will be super fun.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Macbook Pro, I have a 15". Actually I have two of them. One lives in a closet. I put it there after I spilled an entire glass of wine on it after having it for only 10 months. Fried it. I keep meaning to send it to a friend who wants to try to fix it or see what needs replacing in it. But I digress. Are you sure you want the Macbook and not an Air? I pretty much never use the DVD drive and frankly even this feels kind of big and heavy after awhile. I mostly use it for working on my lap and rarely travel with it. It's definitely on the bigger side for traveling (hello iPad!). On the flip side, I find the 13-inchers impossibly small.
Anyway, if I were buying today I'd get the Air.
Also, will you come clean here? PLEASE????????????
Hi Katie,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I found your blog via Danielle @ breakfast at toast; I can't wait to see the changes. Your blog is great! Cute cute party ideas! We have a macbook pro as well, the 15" and we LOVE it. It's the perfect size in my opinion. We also waffled b/w it and the 17" but in the end felt this one was the most comfortable on our lap. You will love it, whichever one you choose! :)

I love the idea of a purge. I am going to do one room a month this year.
ReplyDeleteI am dreaming of getting a Macbook. I am saving up for one.
