lollipop centerpiece tutorial

Here it is!  The “tutorial” for our Little Gym Sweets Party table centerpiece.

This was so easy to make a tutorial is almost not necessary, but getting the pops to stand up is a little tricky, so I thought that I would share what worked for us.

{Supplies}

lollipops {25 for $10 at Party City}

metal tins {$4/each, Hobby Lobby}

party grass {$5, Hob Lob}

Styrofoam {any craft store}

plastic bags from big box store

I had already started before remembering to snap a photo, hence the opened bag and pop box.  I thought that I had a close-up of the Styrofoam, but alas, it is eluding me.  You can see it sitting on the chair in the background.  Tutorial Fail.

Why plastic bags?  They are to cushion the pop sticks, otherwise, the pop sticks will slide completely through the Styrofoam, and and the sucker part will barely poke out.

You will also need something very sharp to cut the Styrofoam.  My husband used a hand saw to cut circles out to wedge into the buckets.  The Styrofoam works like the foam using in floral bouquets.  After I purchased the brown party grass, I found the exact same product at the Dollar Store, so check there first.

Voila!

The great thing about the buckets are that they can be reused for different themes.  I am sure that I will be back in May with a new centerpiece bucket idea for the Big Kid’s birthday party.  He says that he wants a SpongeBob theme.  Hold me.
