Most nights before bed, we have a Dance Party in Little Kid’s room. One night recently, Big Kid asked if we could listen to “Dynamite” for Dance Party.
“What is Dynamite?” I asked.
Apparently, “Dynamite” is a popular song by artist Taio Cruz. I will be the first to admit, I do not care for current Top 40. The Engineer says that I am a music snob. When Big Kid started singing the lyrics along with the song, I was surprised. Where did he learn this? In my car, we are either listening to Pandora internet radio or endless episodes of Duck Tails {we have the box set—all three seasons}. But more importantly when did I become so old and un-hip that HE is telling ME about music?
Have you heard this song?
His dad does listen to the radio, so perhaps he is the source.
A few days later, I heard his sister singing along with the Pandora Disney station. She now knows the lyrics to “Chim Chiminee” from Mary Poppins, which is enormously more palatable to me than pop fluff. She also does a mean “Cinderelly”.

haha! my kids love that song.
ReplyDeleteI do know this song ... and at the beginning when he says "I'm wearing my favorite brands, brands, brands, brands" I always sing along "I'm wearing my favorite pants, pants, pants, pants" and it drives my 11 year old nutty, which in turn annoys the 14 year old!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for stopping by and taking on the "Impossibilities" challenge. I put you on the reminder email list ....

I love the idea of a dance party every night. Maybe I should do that to get in a bit more cardio
