t4t | let's talk fitness

After over a decade of devotion to the elliptical, I really needed a new way to lose this winter weight. I have found it:

The Helix works a whole new set of muscles -- and after 20 minutes the other day, I was really feeling it. Which was good and much needed.

That is, when I actually get to the YMCA and use it. Full disclosure: I can't kick this cold. I cannot figure out if this is a new cold or a continuation of my January cold, but I can't remember the last time  that I was sick two months in a row. I am not sure it has ever happened. And it sucks.

We bit the bullet last week and bought the Fitbit Aria scale which syncs with my FitBit. It is pretty cool I admit. It asked us to name it so we christened it Col. Pound.

Let me tell you, Col. Pound is hardcore. He did not have good news for me on the first weigh in. So I am chomping at the bit to get in the gym and get back to my fighting weight but I have just enough energy to get through my workday and get the kids where they need to be and then I am done. My stomach is upset from the amount of phlegm that I am swallowing (GROSS) and I am constantly sneezing and blowing my nose. I just feel like a lump.

But -- if I ever get back to the Y, I do have a new gym groove:

Now I am of the generation that there is only one Prince, but this Prince Royce fellow is pretty good too.

What about you, any new fitness tips? Happy Thursday!

  3. Hmmm... may have to try this next time I go to the Y! I stay on the boring treadmill most of the time. Feel better!

    1. It is definitely a different workout -- I am hoping that it counteracts all of these Girl Scout cookies that I have been snarfling!

  4. Ok I've never heard of The Helix, but it looks interesting. Is it hard to get used to? I looked at a video online trying to figure out how it worked, and I fear I may not be coordinated enough for it...ha! I bet it does give a great workout though. Great song too...might have to add to my gym playlist :)
