When I am not blogging ...

I shamelessly stole this idea from my friend and fellow basset enthusiast Sarah. I was low on topics this week and this was good inspiration to capture a little bit of life in 2015.

When I am not blogging, I am usually ... (in no particular order):

Which is part of the reason I have been MIA on the blog. If I am doing a lot of writing for the newspaper, that usually sucks up my creativity to the point that the well is dry for blogging. Our staff photographer Ellen snapped the picture above from our assignment at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center yesterday -- I am on the left. This is for an upcoming story about the new Rocket City Inventors showcase, which is part of their 101 Inventions that Changed the World interactive exhibit. It was amazing.

... at the basketball court. This is where I have been four times in the last week. This season has been very frustrating for Big Kid. He is not scoring like he wants but really likes his teammates. You can also substitute: transporting kids to Girl Scouts/guitar lessons/church group here. Little also wants to start gymnastics, which we will probably try in the fall. And this Saturday starts the beginning of baseball so we will once again be living at the ball field for the next four months.

... in choir practice. Church choir is a pretty big commitment. We have a 2.5 hour practice every week, including the women's ensemble that I joined this year. We sing most Sundays and hold special practices/performances through the year. But I would not trade it for anything. I also sing at the nursing home every other week as part of a church group, which is always a fun and special time.

... sitting on my new sectional. If you follow Team Skelley on Instagram, you might have seen our epic new sectional that arrived as part of our media room remodel. My favorite part of the day is relaxing with the Engineer and surfing the net after the kids have gone to bed. We watch Marry Me, SNL, The Flash, Brooklyn 99, Game of Thrones -- okay, he watches and I hide behind a pillow -- and Portlandia.

... at the YMCA. Or at least I should be. I try to get in three one-hour workouts each week but it seems that the only exercise I have been getting lately is an exercise in futility because either I, or Little Kid has spent most of 2015 sick. Blargh.

... walking the Tank. Since Fletcher the Basset Hound is still 12 lbs. from his goal weight, we try to walk him every day, but that has been difficult with the various illnesses rolling through our family and temps in the twenties. I feel bad when he does not get a walk because he loves them so much. He doesn't understand that we don't walk in the rain/super cold temps and will wait patiently by the door every day. Poor puppy.

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for peeking in on my super sexy, super thrilling life away from Team Skelley. All kidding aside, I am very lucky to have exactly the life that I always wanted. How many people can say that? I try to remember and appreciate it. What do you do when you aren't blogging?

  1. Floyd is the same way! Weather does not deter him, at all! And I am pretty certain he would walk for about 5 hours when it is super nice out.

  2. Poor baby! I hope he gets out this weekend if your temps are as nice as ours.
