Friday Fave | This Week's Favorite Project: Ikea Art Cart

Project of the Week!

When we redid the Game/Media Room, I knew that an important component would be an area where Little Kid could work on her art projects. Not a day goes by that she is not writing, painting, drawing, or somehow making some sort of artistic creation. We needed: affordable, adaptable and adjustable and I found that in Ikea's rolling Raskog Utility Cart.

But since I am me (read: crazy) I thought that the beige cart looked plain-ish, even with the multitude of colorful metal pails that we found in the Target dollar aisle to hold markers, glue sticks and whatnot. One roll of white washi tape (Amazon Prime FTW), and I have once again indulged my stripe addiction.

Tada!

It holds all of Little's art supplies and it is very handy if she wants to work on her projects in her room or while watching TV. This cart is so versatile -- it would be great in a dorm room or to add more storage in a bathroom. Highly recommend.

Have a great weekend!

  1. This is a really great idea, and I totally thought you covered it with some sort of contact paper at first not tape. But that sounds like an even easier way to dress it up. I think this could be a fun bar cart too...hmmm :)

  2. Such a super cute idea!! In fact I might just have the perfects spot for one of those carts in our tiny craft room. Love how you changed the look of it! (I heart stripes) Thanks for sharing on Best of the Nest!
