Reading: Jill Shalvis' Animal Magnetism series. Yes, they are very romance novel-ish, but she sucked me in with all of the cute dogs on the cover. I like how she can write a light-hearted story, but inject some drama and conflict, so it is not overly saccharine. I started another book this week that ended up in my DNF pile because it was just so dour and plodding. $5 down the drain. If you want to check out my virtual bookshelf: Team Skelley on Goodreads. I warn you, my tastes are not highbrow.
Writing: Finishing up a story about Atlanta for our special vacations issue. As fun as it has been stepping off-post for this issue, I will be glad when it is done.
Watching: Big Kid hit his first home run of the season! He was all smiles last night. And -- the new Avengers movie with the kid, his dad and our good friends, the Hudds. Excellent popcorn movie fun. The summer movie season is one of my favorite times of the year and this one is shaping up nicely.
Listening to: My new washer and dryer!
Our washer finally gave up the ghost last week and as the set has always been a lemon, we took advantage of a sale at Lowes to replace them. I bought The Engineer a dryer for our wedding anniversary and he got me the washer. I washed 15 towels last week at one time! And then dried them in one round! Living the dream. Of course, our upstairs air conditioner broke four days later. #doh
Wearing: A bright yellow kimono.
I walked in Target for hand soap today and walked out with the above Lilly Pulitzer that someone had returned. It is very cheerful, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I look like one of the Golden Girls.
Experiencing: A different part of my job this week. Most of the time I primarily communicate with the other Public Affairs offices on post via email. Yesterday, we all gathered together for a meeting with a visiting brigadier general and chief of Public Affairs for the Army. It was illuminating.
