... to the best Mom ever!
Gramma is celebrating a big milestone today -- her 60th birthday! Over the years, I have received numerous compliments about my mom's youthful looks. I hope that like her eye color, upbeat personality, love of holiday decorating and scattered brain, that is something that I inherit.
I could list all of my mom's good qualities -- and there are a lot -- but the best description of Gramma came from her granddaughter a few weeks ago. We were riding down the road, chatting about something that I forget now and I said, "You forget, I was raised by Gramma."
Little Kid: "I bet living with Gramma was awesome."
Big Kid: "Yeah!"
I think that all kids probably take their parents for granted, but the older I get and the more I see of the world around us, the more I appreciate the values that my mom instilled in us and the environment that she created for us. We were safe and secure, and surrounded by love, creativity and lots and lots of cats. And we are truly blessed that like my relationship with my grandmother, her mother, she has a close bond with my children and my nephew. She is always there to help and I could not do this whole parenting gig without her.
We have big plans for a birthday shopping weekend this month (another attribute that I inherited from my mom, we both love a great deal) but on this special day, we want to wish Gramma a very happy birthday. Fletcher especially since they are BFFs (again, my mom is a cat person).
We love you Gramma!
