A Look Back at 2015

One of the reasons that I have continued to blog over the last six plus years is that I like how blogging allows me to create and look back at a narrative of our life. In the day to day bustle it is easy to get lost in the chaos of obligations and activities and ups and downs. Blogging helps me to remember -- and to appreciate -- this crazy little family of mine. So here we are, Team Skelley in 2015:

January

The big happening of January was Little's birthday trip to Disney World!

February

Little's first (and last) time selling Girl Scout cookies. She had a fun time in her one year of Girl Scouts but is all about softball now.

March

Snow!

We finish turning our playroom into a rec room and proceed to spend the rest of our year on this couch.

April

The Engineer and I celebrate our 13th anniversary and he spends part of the month in Hawaii for work. #luckydog

May

The choir performs our Latin cantata for the first time (we would also perform it later in the year as a 9/11 remembrance).

Big Kid pitches in (and wins) his first baseball championship!

And a few days later turns 11!

June

Family road trip to St. Louis!

Happy birthday, Engineer!

July

During a very busy summer filling in for our special section editor (aka my Work Boo) while she was on maternity leave, I experienced a highlight of my career when I had the opportunity to interview a Medal of Honor recipient.

Big experiences his first broken bone at summer camp, luckily for him that he was between basketball and baseball seasons and did not have to sit anything out.

And a few days later, he (with a waterproof cast) and I sneak away to the beach to see our former neighbors and Big Kid's Bestie.

August

Back to school with a second grader and sixth grader -- Big's last first day of elementary school.

Big undergoes surgery for his ingrown toenails and the jury is still out six months later whether it worked.

September

My birthday buddy -- my nephew -- and I turn 38 and one.

Little starts her first year of softball and loves it.

October

The Engineer and I spend a long, relaxing weekend in Asheville and watch Tennessee beat Georgia!

We head back home for my twentieth high school reunion.

For a second year in a row, we have a very stormy Halloween.

November

Gramma and I head to Nashville for a shopping weekend celebrating her 60th birthday!

December

After the heaviest travel year since we have been together, the Engineer successfully completes his second stay in Hawaii and makes it home for Star Wars!

And Christmas --

It has been an amazing year and I just want to say thank you for reading here and commenting and all of your kindness and support. I could not -- and would not want to -- do this without you. To you and yours, Happy New Year! May 2016 be our best year yet.
