Five Holiday Faves

Time for another edition of "stuff Katie likes," only this week with a holiday flavor.

1. Plaid everything

I think that I have a problem. Sheets, clothing, ribbon, holiday decorations -- if it is plaid, I am like a moth to a flame. Buffalo check, which is so hot this fall, comes in a close second. My Christmas decorations this year is very heavy on the plaid and buffalo check, which hopefully you will see when my Christmas decorations post goes up next week.

2. Lands End puffer vest

I could not get the front shot. This actually ties into #1, although all of the Lands End puffers are awesome -- not too puffy or bulky. These also make great Christmas gifts. My only recommendation is that they run large, I had to size mine down.

3. Winter sheets

I love holiday sheets but can't make myself spend hundreds of dollars on sheets that the kids will only use one month a year. And I am definitely a Christmas purist -- no holiday anything after New Years. But Target's winter flannel sheets, above on Little Kid's bed, we use half of the year and they are a quarter of the cost of their Pottery Barn equivalent. I will say that it is fun to give the PBK holiday sheets because they are the gift that everyone loves, but are reluctant to spend on themselves. I bought the Christmas crib sheets for two cousins and they were both super excited!

4. Basketball is back!

If you follow Team Skelley on Instagram, you might have seen that Big Kid had a great inaugural beginning to his basketball season scoring 11 of his team's 37 points and a three pointer. This year will be interesting -- half of the boys are well into puberty and half are not so you have a lot of 5 ft. kids playing 6 ft. kids. Big was happy with his performance after the game and I was happy for him. He can be pretty hard on himself.

5. Home Alone on a Friday night

Weekend, jammies, eggnog, chex mix, a Charlie Brown Christmas blanket and Home Alone by the Christmas tree = happiness.

Thanks for stopping by and happy weekend!

  1. I love flannel sheets and I agree I can't spend much on them. I missed the fact Home Alone was on TV last week.
