Thoughts on Thursday

On the first Thursday of 2016, we are:

Watching: Making a Murderer on Netflix. I don't know if I can convey here how jaw-dropping ... infuriating ... heartbreaking ... sobering ... this documentary is. You must watch it. Trust.

Reading: The first 5 star book of the year:

Helena Conway has fallen in love.
Unwillingly. Unwittingly.
But not unprovoked.
Kit Isley is everything she’s not—unstructured, untethered,
and not even a little bit careful.
It could all be so beautiful … if he wasn’t dating her best friend.
Helena must defy her heart, do the right thing, and think of others.
Until she doesn’t.

The name? A little over the top. The book? Excellent. I love Fisher's writing and I really love quirky, unconventional heroines. This book delivers.

Wearing: After years of pretty much every blogger I know raving about the Barefoot Dreams cardigan, I finally broke down and ordered one.

It arrived last Wednesday and I think that I have worn it every day since. It is so soft. Definitely worth the hype. I wore it out to meet the kids after school and my gal pal and Rocky Hound's mom Mary was sporting hers too. I did not link this up but I ordered mine from Amazon because I am a follower of the Cult of Prime.

Writing: After a three-week break, we jumped back into work Monday full speed ahead at the newspaper. I am tackling a sensitive story this week and am struggling. This is one I have to -- need to -- get right.

Planning: Little's eighth birthday party, which is a softball theme and being held at a roller skating rink. This weekend, we are working on the party favors, although I don't know how we will ever top the Olaf treat bags. 1865 pins and counting on Pinterest, bananas!

Slid this one in with only an hour to spare while watching Jimmy Fallon. Whew. Because I know that you were clamoring for my Thursday thoughts. (I really need a sarcasm font.) Spoiler alert: right now they are with the box of Sharp Cheddar Cheesit Grooves in my pantry. I think that they are seasoned with crack because I cannot stop eating them. Happy Thursday!

  1. I have not watched it yet but caught an episode on ID about the first conviction he had that was false.
