My favorite Glenn Frey song is not actually an Eagles tune.
"The One You Love"
Although it is probably not too surprising if you know me and my love of eighties soft rock.
Glenn Frey, co-founder of the Eagles, died Monday and with his passing, the curtain fell on one of the greatest rock bands in history. Like millions of others, the music of the Eagles was the soundtrack to my youth: "New York Minute," "Pretty Maids All in a Row," "I Can't Tell You Why," ... I cannot hear any of those songs without being 17 again and cruising down the backroads of Tennessee relishing the freedom of youth and a whole world of possibilities ahead.
So while we mourn one of the great legends -- and it has been a hard week for artistic geniuses with the loss of both David Bowie and Alan Rickman -- let us take it easy and enjoy the incredible musical legacy that Glenn Frey leaves behind.
